The Intentionality of Touch Webinar 2026
Please note, this is the LIVE WEBINAR version of this course. Visit Live Classroom course to attend in person. NCBTMB approved Continuing Education course.
8 CE - The Intentionality of Touch focuses on the practitioner and the quality of presence brought into the therapeutic encounter. Participants explore mindfulness, grounding, practitioner self-awareness, autonomic regulation, emotional boundaries, holding space, and the transition from performing techniques to practicing with awareness and adaptability. The course helps practitioners develop intentional habits that support sustainable, client-centered practice without confusing therapeutic presence with counseling or treatment outside scope. This is for the LIVE WEBINAR version of this course.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Define mindfulness, therapeutic presence, and practitioner intentionality.
2. Demonstrate at least two grounding or attention practices appropriate for session preparation.
3. Identify personal and environmental factors that can reduce practitioner presence.
4. Recognize basic signs of practitioner stress or dysregulation.
5. Develop a brief pre-session and post-session regulation routine.
6. Apply professional boundaries when clients bring emotional material into the treatment room.
7. Use listening, pacing, silence, and presence appropriately within massage scope.
8. Create a personal plan for continued practitioner self-awareness and sustainable practice.
