The Transformation of Touch Webinar 2026

Please note, this is the LIVE WEBINAR version of this course.  Visit Live Classroom course to attend in person. NCBTMB approved Continuing Education course.

8 CE - The Transformation of Touch explores the interaction of therapeutic touch with the nervous system, including trauma physiology, stress responses, neuroplasticity, sensory experience, pain, and regulation. Participants learn trauma-informed principles that prioritize safety, predictability, choice, pacing, and client autonomy. The course presents nervous-system concepts in a clinically responsible way and distinguishes supportive massage practice from psychotherapy or trauma treatment outside a massage therapist's scope.  This is for the LIVE WEBINAR version of this course.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe basic autonomic nervous system responses to stress and sensory input.
2. Explain foundational concepts of neuroplasticity and sensory adaptation.
3. Identify common trauma-related nervous-system responses without diagnosing trauma.
4. Apply trauma-informed principles such as choice, predictability, pacing, and consent.
5. Recognize signs that a client may be experiencing dysregulation and identify appropriate session modifications.
6. Explain major biopsychosocial influences on pain and stress responses.
7. Identify scope-of-practice limits when working with trauma, mental health, and nervous-system concerns.
8. Develop a nervous-system-informed session approach for a case scenario.
