2 CE - This Tennessee Law course provides massage therapists and massage establishment operators with an overview of the statutes, rules, and regulatory requirements governing the practice of massage therapy in Tennessee. The course is designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of their legal and professional responsibilities and help them maintain compliance with requirements established by the Tennessee Massage Licensure Board.  This is the LIVE CLASSROOM version of this course.

Topics include current rule changes, Tennessee Peer Assistance Program (TNPAP), Board definitions and scope of practice, draping and prohibited treatments, massage establishment standards and licensure, license renewal and reinstatement, retirement and reactivation, continuing education requirements, disciplinary actions and civil penalties, and Consumer Right-to-Know reporting requirements. Participants will also review responsibilities related to maintaining a current license, working in a properly licensed establishment, maintaining required records, and monitoring Board information for regulatory changes.

1. Identify key Tennessee statutes, rules, definitions, and scope-of-practice requirements governing massage therapists and massage establishments.
2. Explain professional requirements related to draping, prohibited conduct and treatments, establishment standards, sanitation, licensure, and recordkeeping.
3. Describe Tennessee requirements for license renewal, reinstatement, retirement, and continuing education, including the required 24 hours of CE during each two-year cycle.
4. Recognize conduct that may result in disciplinary action and distinguish among warnings, reprimands, probation, suspension, revocation, and civil penalties.
5. Apply Tennessee regulatory requirements to everyday massage practice, including establishment compliance, mandatory reporting, continuing education documentation, and maintaining current professional licensure.
