The Art of Touch 2026

Please note, this is the LIVE CLASSROOM version of this course.  Visit Live Webinar course to attend online. NCBTMB approved Continuing Education course.

8 CE - The Art of Touch focuses on the craft of massage therapy: clinical reasoning, assessment, palpation, individualized planning, treatment adaptation, therapeutic listening, and reassessment. Rather than relying on fixed protocols, participants learn a structured process for gathering information, forming reasonable clinical hypotheses, selecting appropriate interventions, evaluating client response, and adapting the session. The course emphasizes that assessment is not diagnosis and that clinical decisions must remain within professional scope.  This is the LIVE CLASSROOM version of this course.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe a structured clinical reasoning process appropriate to massage therapy.
2. Gather and prioritize relevant client information for session planning.
3. Distinguish observation and assessment from medical diagnosis.
4. Demonstrate foundational palpation and observation strategies.
5. Integrate client feedback with practitioner observations when making treatment decisions.
6. Select and adapt techniques based on client goals, presentation, tolerance, and response.
7. Reassess and document relevant changes during or after a session.
8. Develop an individualized treatment plan and identify appropriate referral considerations.
